5 MINUTES: Tutorial Corel How to Make Poster Design

NEED POSTER?WAIT, JUST 5 MINUTES

Nowadays, digital design is much needed by almost all people in the world. In purpose to make event publication such as: poster, banner, flyer, proposal, etc. Maybe just want to mock up documents or presentations so that it has better style and people feel interested to read. I just want to tell you, readers, about the things that must be note about designing something like that. In purpose to make interesting publication, it must follow some simple rules:

· Supporting background
· Contrast level
· Content layouting

I mean, these 3 components must be set in the right way.

What is your theme of your publication? What is the main color of your event?

If you can answer these 2 simple question, making a supporting background can be as simple as making a glass of tea, seriously. In example, suppose that you have to make an invitation poster about family outing. The background that has to be used must talk about recreation site too.

You can put a beach background, garden background, family background, or anything else about family outing. Open your CorelDraw, set up your page, and put in the picture.

Step 1

example of setting up page:

Insert a picture:

Contrast is talk about the difference of brightness. The sky and the beach in the picture have high contrast. It means that they have high brightness difference. If you have the point of “enough contrast level”, you can easily understand the picture, right?

Next step is adding some texts so that you can fulfill the main function of your design, invitation poster, persuade participants. Talk about texts, the color of your texts and your background must have highly brightness different. In example: if you want to put your text at the beach that has dark color, you must have bright color of texts.

Adding texts maybe is looked like just very simple task, but there is a simple secret that actually is not a secret to make the texts more visible. Blurring the picture, this step is the key of making all kinds of picture into awesome background.

Step 2

Blurring the picture:
Click your object>Bitmap>Blur>Gaussian blur

set the blurriness level:

But, in order to make the picture become blurring, just take the level of blurriness into blur enough, so that people can still recognize the picture. After that, make the picture fits the workspace by use shaping tools: intersect. Drag a rectangle with the size of your workspace and then by using selection tool, select the picture and the rectangle, next click shaping tools: intersect.

Shaping tool:

Step 3

Adjusting and Cropping image:
Adjust your image until fit the workspace>Draw a workspace size rectangle>Select all object with the rectangle in front position>Click intersect

result:

The next step is tried to fill the image with some main texts. Adding texts must pay attention to the layout and composition. Too many accessories are not good, and too many texts are also not good to see. For some reasons, poster that has to contain a lot of text can be adjusted and recombine with accessories so that it seems interesting.

Step 4

Insert the texts:

It is so simple right? Just with a few step you can make your own desired poster. Let’s resume all the steps above:

  • Open CorelDraw
  • Insert a picture that related with your theme
  • Make the picture become blur
  • Trim it by using supporting shape, rectangle, and shaping tools: intersect
  • Put some texts
  • Your poster is done
